Making Memories with Wild Edge Woodcraft Ft. Dennis and Leslie

Stories about Customer Collaboration

One of the most exciting aspects of this business is bringing our customer’s stories to life. Through sustainably sourced, hand-made, heirloom furniture, we create pieces that last for generations and bring families closer together and closer to nature.

Today, we will feature some of the incredible customers we’ve had the pleasure of working with and highlight their incredible stories.

A Beautiful Day for a Red Oak Wedding Table with Dennis and Leslie

This build was an extremely rewarding experience as we were able to make something beautiful that would symbolize a bright future full of love for a new family, all while honoring the memory of an important family member unable to share on the special day.

Initially, Dennis wanted the table to be a surprise wedding gift for his bride, but there was so much more to this beautiful story.

Something Old, Something New, Something made Just for You

Leslie’s mother had sadly passed away before the wedding, and Leslie had inherited her table at the time from her mother, so it had sentimental value. Unfortunately, it was falling apart, and the couple knew they needed to replace it with something more durable.

To honor the memory of Leslie’s mother, we used the legs from her table as a pattern for the new table. We also repurposed the tabletop from her mother’s pine table and turned it into a headboard for the guest room of the couple’s new home.

The process was incredible, and from it came a stunning new table, a beautiful memory-infused headboard, and a new friendship. Dennis would drive an hour and a half each way to help us work on the table, and the looming deadline of the wedding, coupled with the importance of the event, gave the work an added sense of purpose and meaning. A personal connection and a relationship were formed between me and the client, which always makes things much more meaningful than just furniture crafted for an anonymous future buyer.

Each time Dennis came to the shop, he would bring bagels from his favorite bagel shop. Everybody looked forward to the days that he would show up, and I still treasure the friendship formed with Dennis to this day!

The Finished Product and Reaction!

As neither of them really had viable kitchen tables to take into their life together when combining households, Dennis thought that it would be sentimental to have the first piece of furniture they purchased as a couple to be something they would use every day. A fitting decision as the table is the heart of the home!

The closer we got to completion, the more excited Dennis got! He was so eager to show Leslie the final product. When Leslie finally did see it in person for the first time, she was so happy and overwhelmed she started crying. Tears of joy!

Every time this couple sees their table, the memories, experience, thought, care behind the gesture, and love that went into the build will be there. They won’t have to replace their table in a few years, or ever. For the rest of their lives and beyond, the story of their love will live through the beautiful table created to celebrate the beginning of their life together as husband and wife.

An incredible wedding gift, in our opinion!
