our Story

About us

Much of life today seems superficial and fleeting. At Wild Edge Woodcraft, we know you want to create stronger ties with your family, your friends, your community, and with nature but that can be difficult. We believe that a distinctive piece of handmade solid wood furniture crafted from sustainably harvested local trees has the power to bring people closer.

It is our passion to create one-of-a-kind furniture pieces that tell a story and celebrate the unique style of every person we work with. Natural beauty enriches the human experience which is why we devote months to crafting extraordinary pieces that people appreciate and talk about for years.

You deserve to relate to your friends, family, community, and nature in a meaningful way through low-impact, sustainably sourced natural materials crafted to show your individual taste through distinctive pieces made just for you.

Our story started with a passion for family and creating something that is meaningful. The joy that our family gets seeing our customers living the life they have envisioned, beaming with pride, and happiness when we create and deliver their custom piece is what feeds our souls every single day.

Furniture doesn’t need to just be a common, lackluster item in your home needing to be replaced every few years that everyone you know has the same version of in different colors. It can be a source of art, beauty, expression, and a testament to form and function that brings people together and starts conversations.

Get in touch, and together we can bring your vision to life and create an heirloom piece of furniture that will tell a story for generations to come.

If you would like to learn more about the process of turning Urban Trees into fine furniture, you can watch my Webinar for the NC Urban Forest Council. A lot has changed since then, but it’s a good overview of the entire “value stream.”

I’m lucky to work with the love of my life, Shannon!

We moved out of the city and started the farm as a way to stay connected to Nature and teach our three sons self-reliance and life skills.
